Yard waste piles up differently than household junk or construction debris — brush, branches, and clippings take up a lot of space without weighing very much, which changes how we size a container for the job. A spring cleanup, a landscaping overhaul, or storm debris after a rough nor'easter can all fill a yard fast, and Granite Dumpster Rental delivers containers sized for exactly that kind of bulky, lighter-weight load.
We're a local, owner-operated company running our own trucks out of Eaton Heights off I-93, and because we dispatch ourselves rather than routing through a call center, we can usually get a container out same-day or next-day — useful when a storm has just come through and branches are already down.
Yard waste containers do have their own set of rules about what can and can't go in, separate from a general junk or construction dumpster — more on that below.
What we handle on yard waste dumpster rental jobs
- Branches, brush & limbs
- Leaves & grass clippings
- Storm debris — downed limbs after wind or ice
- Untreated wood from fencing or landscaping projects
- Small stumps & root balls
- Garden clean-out material
- Sod & turf removal
- General landscaping debris
What Belongs in a Yard Waste Dumpster
Branches, brush, leaves, grass clippings, sod, small stumps, and general garden or landscaping debris are all a fit for a yard waste container. It's the right choice for a seasonal cleanup, a landscaping project, or clearing storm debris after wind or ice brings limbs down across the yard.
Bagged leaves and clippings are fine to load in — the container isn't restricted to loose material, just to yard-generated organic debris rather than general household trash.
What Can't Go In — Yard Waste Has Its Own Rules
A yard waste container follows a different prohibited-materials list than our other dumpsters. Treated or pressure-treated wood (old deck boards, treated fence posts), plastic planters and pots, fertilizers, chemicals, and bagged household trash are not allowed in a yard waste container — even though some of those might be fine in a general construction or junk removal box.
The reason is the yard waste stream is kept separate for disposal purposes, so contamination with treated wood, chemicals, or household garbage causes real problems downstream. If your cleanup includes any of those items, set them aside and we can talk through the right container for them separately.
Seasonal Yard Cleanups Around Manchester
Spring is a heavy season for yard waste containers — "mud season," roughly March through April, is when frost heaves and thawing ground show up on NH roads, and it's also when winter's accumulated branches and dead growth finally get cleared out. If a property is on a rural road with seasonal weight restrictions during that stretch, mention it when you book — we'll plan delivery timing around it.
Fall and winter bring a different driver: nor'easters and winter storms that knock down limbs and leave yards full of debris that needs to be cleared before it becomes a hazard. A yard waste container is usually the fastest way to get a property cleaned up after a storm passes through.
Choosing a Size for Yard & Landscaping Debris
Because brush and branches are bulky but light, yardage — not tonnage — is usually the limiting factor for a yard waste job, which is the opposite of a concrete or demolition load. A 15-yard covers most single-property seasonal cleanups; a 20-yard is a better fit for a larger landscaping overhaul or a property with significant storm damage. A 10-yard works for a smaller trim-and-clear job.

FAQs
Yard Waste Dumpster Rental questions, answered
Can I put bagged leaves and grass clippings in the container?
Yes, bagged yard debris is fine. The distinction is between yard-generated material and household trash, not bagged versus loose.
Is treated or pressure-treated deck wood allowed in a yard waste dumpster?
No. Treated and pressure-treated wood is on the prohibited list specifically for yard waste containers, along with plastic planters, fertilizers, chemicals, and bagged household trash.
Can I mix yard waste with household trash in the same container?
No — bagged household trash is one of the prohibited materials for a dedicated yard waste dumpster. If you need to dispose of both, ask us about the right container mix for your job.
What about tree stumps?
Small stumps and root balls are fine. For very large stumps, mention it when you call so we can confirm it'll work with the size you're ordering.
What size is best for a big yard cleanup?
A 20-yard handles most larger landscaping overhauls or storm-damage cleanups well, since yard debris is bulky but light. A 15-yard covers most standard seasonal cleanups.
Do you deliver during mud season in the spring?
Yes, though if your property is on a rural road with seasonal weight restrictions during March and April, let us know when you book so we can plan delivery timing accordingly.
